Leverkusen

Grand Opening Therban Production

On October 17, 2000, Bayer officially opened the Therban production facility at the Leverkusen site in the presence of more than 150 guests. The plant will operate under especially environmentally suitable conditions using most advanced process control technology.

Jürgen Tritin
Jürgen Trittin, German Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Reactor Safety, together with Bayer CEO Dr. Manfred Schneider and Board Member Dr. Attila Molnar, brought the 60 million euro plant on stream with the symbolic push of a button.

In his speech, Trittin pointed out that the technology implemented here paves the way for a more environmentally production, which was also the reason for him to support this model project

Dr. Jürgen Ick
Besides from the ecological advantages, Dr. Jürgen Ick, General Manager of the Rubber Business Group, put his emphasis on Bayer's expanded position as the market leader in elastomer production and on the at least 40 secured jobs in the new facility.

Securing both the jobs and the industry location in Germany was the long-term goal Dr. Molnar focussed on. A new edition of a sound common agreement to ensure this also in the future is being negotiated right now, he said.
