Elastomer parts used in oil exploration and production are subjected to a combination of severe conditions, such as abrasion, heat and dynamic loading, together with exposure to such hostile media as oil, methane, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide and high pH stabilizers. In comparison with other rubbers, such as NBR, XNBR, EPDM, ECO and FPM, Therban® has a considerably longer service life in such harsh environments. It suffers significantly less wear and blistering in the event of explosive decompression is greatly reduced or even completely eliminated. As a result, Therban® is used for the manufacture of blow-out preventers, stators, drill pipe protectors, conveyor hoses, packers as well as a range of other gaskets.
